Our Current Status Regarding COVID-19
The museum is not yet available for walk-in tours. We are available most days for tours during normal business hours if you call ahead. Please call us upstairs at (812) 257-0301 or (812) 698-1510 and we will try to accommodate your access. We hope to have our normal service available again soon.

The Home of Your History
The Daviess County Historical Society is dedicated to collecting and maintaining the history of our community. We maintain the Daviess County Museum in the old Masonic Lodge on Main Street in Washington, originally built in 1869. The museum is filled with artifacts and exhibits to educate and entertain all ages of Daviess County residents and visitors alike. It also holds an archives room with many resources for researchers.

Celebrate Art in Daviess County: A Sunday Afternoon Art Show
June 6, 1-5 PM
The Daviess County Museum showcases the past and future of Daviess County artists with a special walk-in gallery show Sunday, June 6th, from 1 to 5 PM. We will recognize the legacy of the Daviess County Art League with pieces from affiliated artists mixed with selections from young artists in the area
Daviess County Military Review
The DCHS is currently planning a publication documenting Daviess County veterans past and present. If you have information on a military veteran please download this form (PDF or Word) and return it to the museum with a photograph and optional short (200 words or less) biography. You may bring a photograph to the museum to be scanned and returned to you the same day. Submissions may also be sent by email to .
